Mondays are hard on most people, early mornings, alarms, traffic (especially here in San Juan) and the very first day of work in what seems a very long week ahead. People are moody, well, some people, maybe a lot of people. So why does the rest of the day have to suck. Let’s make a special day out of it and eat well.
Make it fancy and all. Down here on Puerto Rico a traditional worker’s lunch would be white rice and beans with some kind of protein, fried chicken, pork chops, carne frita (deep dried pieces of pork meat), with maybe a side of what we Ricans call salad which is no more than two pieces of tomato and some shredded iceberg lettuce under at least two to three aunces of mayoketchup (yes people, that sauce is ours, not Heinz’s) or some full plate like that, lots of starch. Well we all love that kind of food, yes we do! But, let’s mix it up a bit. Let’s make it fancy, or at least special.
Where ever you are in the world, ditch that same ol’ lunch and head to that place you have been wanting to visit, you don’t even have to be accompanied by someone, special lunches (and dinners) are enjoyed alone also. Make it in there and order something delicious. Fancy or special doesn’t mean expensive.
Shake your Monday up and you will see the rest of the week better, have a beer at the end of the work day! You will be surprise on how good you feel about yourself and how happy the rest of the wee you’ll be.
